Dunsters Farm team members took on a 500-mile challenge throughout the first week in March, raising hundreds of pounds funds for Smart Works, a local women’s employment charity.
Three teams of 5 Dunsters Farm staff took to the pedals, aiming to cycle as many miles as possible between 1st & 8th March, raising a total of £500 for the cause.
The cycling challenge was in aid of local charity, Smart Works (Greater Manchester), a fantastic charity supporting women from across all Greater Manchester with career coaching, interview support and professional wardrobe donations.
Staff members built up their miles outdoors with quick daily journeys, long weekend treks but also bumped up their mileage indoors, using an in-office exercise bike & a concentrated ‘Miles Booster’ day with help from neighbouring bury gym, at The Village Hotel.
Hannah Barlow, MD at Dunsters Farm said of the challenge:
“Here at Dunsters Farm, we’ve been passionate about helping people into the workplace, creating opportunities with our apprenticeship pathways and supported roles in collaboration with local community groups – but we can only do so much.”
“Smart Works Greater Manchester has helped thousands of women into the workplace, with over 70% of those supported succeeding at job interviews. So the Cycle for Smart Works challenge was a perfect fit for our first charity challenge of 2023!
“Well done to all my fellow cyclists, who showed great commitment to the challenge and a special thanks to The Village Hotel Bury, who helped us hit our daily targets.
“We’re sure the money raised will do some great work throughout Greater Manchester, supporting many more women into work in our region, and we’re so proud to have played our small part.”
