This March, we’re taking part in the Cycle for Smart Works scheme cycling 500 miles in 5 days with a target of raising £500 working in teams of 5.
Three teams at Dunsters Farm will be taking on the challenge, with staff members from every department aiming to hit the 500 mile target during the period of 1st – 8th March – coinciding with International Womens Day on Wednesday 8th March.
Some team members will be taking to the streets on road bikes, some utilising the great facilities at the local Village Gym (around the corner from our depot) and some will be committing to epic mountain cycles -cranking up the miles over the weekend.
The challenge hopes to raise donations and awareness for Smart Works Manchester, a regional branch of the national Smart Works Charity. Smart Works supports unemployed women in our community, through job coaching and interview clothes, helping women across Greater Manchester to ‘get the clothes, get the confidence, get the job’.
Jen Royle, Marketing Manager at Dunsters Farm said of the challenge:
“Supporting our community has long been embedded in how we do things here at Dunsters, always seeking ways to help local charity groups or causes – this has been supercharged over the past few years with charity challenges in every quarter of 2022.
“As we approach our 60th anniversary in 2023, our team are keen to keep the momentum going & this challenge is a perfect opportunity to help a worthwhile regional charity, whilst getting fit & having some fun in the process.”
“Smart Works offers women positive and tangible support in getting into employment, and their work is having a clear impact – with over 72% of women they’ve supported successful at interview. We’re proud to help them expand the work they’re doing and our challenge will hopefully make a difference to more women’s lives in the region.”
